Chennai Metro city: 15 more flyovers planned in 15 dense traffic locations!

The project of installation of colour lamps on the 14 flyovers in Chennai Metro City and setting up vertical gardens in these flyovers at a cost of Rs. 8 Crores is to be taken up shortly.
Further, GCC has also decided to construct 15flyovers - the construction of 6 flyovers which will link ECR (East Coast Road) and OMR (Old Mahabalipuram Road), a flyover linking Koyambedu-Virugambakkam, and flyovers at 9 specific locations with heavy traffic congestion are being explored by the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC).
Accordingly, 15 locations - ICF junction, GP Road Junction, Kilpauk Garden Road, Kellys Road, Ayanavaram Saalai, Ottery Saalai, Basin Bridge Road, NM Road, Teynampet junction, R A Puram Road, Nandanam Road, Greenways Road, SRP Tools, and Guru Nanak Road have been located for construction of flyovers.
The project cost is estimated at Rs. 1500 Crores. It is expected that the construction activities will commence after Tamil Nadu State Government approval.
