An amount of Rs 4300 crores would be spent for installation of smart meters for 42 lakhs electricity connections in Chennai. This would be done for the sake of increasing the revenue. This was announced by the chief minister of TN, Mr. E. Palaniswami On Thursday at the assembly meeting. He mentioned about how the smart meters would be installed across TN in phases.
Uninterrupted supply of power is very important is known. It is now brought out that to get this uninterrupted power supply as many as 22 substations of 110 kv would be set up in various districts of TN. An amount of Rs 998 crores would be spent for this purpose of setting up of substations.
There would be up-gradation of 230 kv substation located at Alagarkoil in Madurai district and it would be upgraded into 400 kv substation. In addition to this, up-gradation of 110 kv substations at Irugur in Coimbatore district plus Tiruppalai in Madurai district would also be upgraded to 230 kv substations. Arasanur belonging to Sivaganga district would have a new 230 kv substation in the future. It is common that during any natural disaster in coastal places in TN power supply get cut and people suffer due to this.
The important information is soon there would be electric lines for about 200 km and these would be supplying power to 33 kv substations at places like Thiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Ramanathapuram, Kanyakumari and Thoothukudi etc. The point is an amount of Rs 300 crores would be spent for this purpose.
