Puducherry Chief Minister: 1-year imprisonment in case public violates curfew!

The Chief Minister of Puducherry, Narayanaswamy, has warned that punishment of 1-year imprisonment will be imposed in case any of the public violates the imposed curfew.

With Coronavirus having spread fast and wide globally and more than 500 persons affected with coronavirus in India, the total number of lives lost has increased to 10!

Both the central and the state governments have initiated various preventive actions. As a part of this, curfew has been imposed in 30 states and Union Territories throughout the country until 31st March.

Accordingly, the Puducherry government under Chief Minister Narayanaswamy has also been undertaking various preventive measures against the coronavirus spread.

Curfew has been imposed in Puducherry from 9.00 PM yesterday (Monday, 23rd March). The Chief Minister informed if any of the public violate curfew and comes out of the house they will be punished with 1-year imprisonment! At the same time, he anxiously observed as well that people do not care that much for life anymore!

He further appealed to the public to extend whole-hearted cooperation and informed that in case required, assistance from the army will be sought. He observed, “people must stop coming out and having arguments with the police! In Puducherry, the industries which are not yet closed will be sealed! People should desist from gathering in large numbers in order to prevent coronavirus spreading. Claiming coming out for buying items, the public should not instead buy (!) coronavirus as well! We are still reviewing about giving the facility for the public to buy essential items!”  welcome
