The central government has announced that a time extension has been granted till 30th June for the driving licenses and other related documents which expired since 1st February onwards.
Lockdown has been imposed throughout the country as a preventive measure against the raging coronavirus pandemic across the world. Subsequently, all the public and private sector offices have closed. As the government transport offices were also closed, there have been problems encountered in renewing motor vehicle driving licences and other related documents.
As such, it has been announced that the driving licence, vehicle-insurance, Fitness certificates, and permits issued under the Motor Vehicles Act will be valid until 30th June.
In a notification released by the Central Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, it is mentioned that ‘all the states and Union Territories and the Police and the Transport Department need not take any action for the vehicle documents including driving licence which expired after 1st February. These documents are deemed to be valid until 30th June.
