The Department of Cooperatives & Food of the State Government of Tamil Nadu has ordered the district collectors to undertake stringent monitoring measures as the ‘Corona Relief Fund’ is to be distributed in the ration shops.
Lockdown/curfew has been imposed in the state of Tamil Nadu from 25th March to 14th April as a preventive measure against the spreading of the raging coronavirus pandemic, So, people from all walks of life and all fields of work are confined to their houses prevented from venturing out!
In order to help the public on this hardship as a measure of relief, the state government of Tamil Nadu is offering all the (rice-) ration card holders Rs. 1000 in cash and the essential grocery items free such as rice, Bengal-gram, sugar, and palm oil free.
These above items are to be distributed from today (Thursday, 2nd April) in all the ration shops despite the lockdown situation.
Each ration shop has 1300-1500 ration card-holders.
In order to prevent large crowds gathering in front of the ration shops during this, the staff of the ration and revenue department have already distributed tokens to the ration card holders instructing the date and time when they can visit and get the free coronavirus relief items and cash.
It has been planned to distribute 100 ration card holders from each ration shop daily from today (2nd April) to 15th April through 244 ration shops throughout the state of Tamil Nadu fort eh 2.01 Crores ration card holders.
Standing locations have been drawn in front of all the ration shops fort the visiting ration card holders to keep the ‘social distance’ standing away from one another.
