For Corona virus containment, staffs from Amma canteens deployed by Chennai Corporation

In Chennai, Amma canteen staffs have now got an additional work!!
These staffs would soon be involved in Covid-19 containment work also. Point is beginning from Friday, 3rd April the staffs of Amma canteens would visit the houses in Chennai as a part of Covid-19 containment.
In the last few years, the Amma canteen staffs have been providing food for the poor is known to us. Son, they would be visiting the houses of Chennai residents.
From each household, the women workers of Amma canteens would generate comprehensive information about Covid-19 and this data would be used for pandemic response by public health officials.
A worker belonging to Amma canteen spoke about how on Thursday, many senior officials summoned a meeting of leaders at Amma canteens and asked them to begin the work of containment of Corona virus. The worker later threw light on how it was an order and no option was available to the workers other than obeying the order. Point is the Amma canteen workers have requested the senior officials not to send them to high risk zones.
It is important to note that some Amma canteen workers already have symptoms of fever and cold and they have asked the Chennai Corporation to screen them before sending them for Covid-19 containment activities.
Information is 407 Amma canteens have been functioning even during the Corona virus threat and they are providing food for poor at cheap rates. Women members of SHGs belonging to few zones have been asked to collect information on Covids-19 from the households.
