The State Government of Tamil Nadu had announced that Rs. 1000 in cash will be given for the rice ration cardholders in order that the economically backward section of the people should not face any hardships during the lockdown period imposed as a preventive action against the spreading of the raging coronavirus.
Further, the state government of Tamil Nadu had also announced that the essential grocery items - rice, lentils, sugar, etc., will be given free for the rice ration cardholders. Accordingly, these items are being given free in all ration shops for the rice ration card holders from today (Tuesday, 7th April).
It may be noted that all items, normally given as listed in the ration card, are given free this month!
The officials have appealed to the public to follow the ‘social distance’ guidelines given by the state and central governments and observe the same while visiting the ration shop to collect the above items!
