The National Women’s Commission has created a new App to help women as it has been observed that family violence incidents against women have increased since the imposition of the lockdown condition.

A 21-day lockdown has been imposed throughout the country from 25th March until 14th April as a preventive measure against the raging coronavirus pandemic. In this situation, complaints were made that the family violence incidents against women had increased substantially during this lockdown period,

In a notification released by the National Women’s Commission, it is mentioned that during the period from 24th March until 1st April, 257 incidents of violence against women in the family had occurred. 69 complaints have been registered.

In order to check and control this, and also to help the women affected in such cases, a new WhatsApp number - 7217735372 has been introduced on behalf of the National Women’s Commission. On the complaint calls received on this number, help will be rendered to take suitable action.
