Tamil Nadu Chief Minister: Lockdown extended until 30th April!

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister E. Palanisamy has announced that the present lockdown imposition has been extended until 30th April.

The Chief Minister informed that this extension has been done as the Major Disaster Management Law, Criminal Enquiry Act 144.

Essential items such as rice, etc., will be given free fort eh month of May for the migrant workers from the other states.

NGO workers and construction workers will be given monthly assistance of Rs. 1000 fort eh 2nd time.

As the lockdown is extended, the essential items for the month of May will be given free for the ration cardholders: 1 kg sugar, 1 kg Bengal gram, and 1 kg cooking oil.

Bakeries can function from 6.00 AM to 1.00 PM.  However, sales must be on parcels.

For the migrant worker from other states, 15 kg rice, 1 kg Bengal gram, and 1 kg cooking oil will be given free.

As the spread of the raging coronavirus pandemic will increase if the present lockdown is relaxed, it is not withdrawn.

This extension of lockdown is based on the insistence of WHO (Worl Health Organisation) notification and the recommendations of the medical experts.

Following his official order regarding the extension of lockdown conditions until 30th April, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has observed regarding some important aspects:

The State Government of Tamil Nadu has introduced the distance medical consulting facility to clarify doubts regarding the Coronavirus.

The Chef Minister appeals to the citizen - “Vizhithirungal, Vilagi Irungal, Veettil Irungal!” - meaning - “Keep Alert! Keep the (social) distance! And Keep yourselves in your residences!”
