The corridors of Sabarimala temple will be opened today for the poojas to be performed during the Hindu calendar month of Chithirai and the poojas on the occasion of Vishu Kani. However, devotees will not be permitted.
The festival of ‘Panguni Aarattu’ was canceled because of the raging coronavirus pandemic. It was decided that the Poojas for the month of Chthirai will be performed without devotees.
Subsequently, the temple corridors will be opened at 5.00 PM today (Tuesday, 13th April) by MelSanthi Sudhir Namboodri. No special poojas will be performed after this. The temple corridors will be closed by 7.30 PM.
When the temple corridors open tomorrow (Wednesday, 14th November) early morning, Vishu Kani Pooja and Abhishekhams will be performed.
Following this, Ganapathy Homam will be performed.
Until 18th April, Usha Pooja, Ucha Pooja, and Athaazha Pooja will be performed daily.
However, other poojas/functions such as Neyyabhishekham, Ashtaabhishekham, Kalababhishekham, Udhayasthamana Pooja, Padi Poojai, Sahasrakalasamand Pushpabhishekham.
Lesser number of staff will attend duty in the temple. As the devotees are not permitted, the time for the corridors open has been reduced.
Accordingly, the temple corridors opened at 5.00 AM, will be closed by 10.00 AM instead of the usual 1.00 PM. Similarly, the corridors, opened by 5.00 PM will close by 7.30 PM instead of the usual 10.00 PM.
Accordingly, the poojas will be concluded at 7.30 PM on 18th April and then the corridors will be closed.
