In the view of Tamil Nadu extending the lock down time till 30th April 2020, the state board schools that were supposed to reopen on 1st June would be reopened after delay of one month. Information gathered is the state board schools would reopen in the first week of July.

In the educational institutions, till the threat of Corona virus persisted, the school education department would introduce social distancing among the students. It was mentioned by a senior official belonging to the Directorate of School Education that works like conducting class `10 public exams, correcting class 11 and class 12 answer sheets plus sanitizing schools were to be completed.

He threw light on how these works would start only after the lock down gets lifted and how atleast one and half months of time would be needed to complete these works. It is worth mentioning that printing of textbooks is yet to start. The senior official later spoke about how the tender process to procure school uniforms, school kits plus others like footwear and notebooks, has been pending.

Point here is the allotment of funds by the government for these schemes would be tough at this present scenario. Taking all these into consideration, it is now said that the schools would begin in the first week of July instead on 1st June. The reopening of schools would be further delayed if the lock down period gets extended further.

The sitting pattern of the students in the classes would be totally different once the school reopens. This would be done to ensure social distancing among the students. For the sake of maintaining minimum distance among the students, extra chairs and tables would be provided. It is now said that all the private institutions would also be instructed to ensure social distancing once schools reopened.
