As per the schedule of the Poojas to be performed in the Hindu/Tamil calendar month of Chithirai, Melsanthi Sudhit Namboodri performed the ‘Brahmaraksash’ pooja at the Sabarimalai Lord Ayyappan temple yesterday (Thursday, 16th April).

Sabarimalai Lord Ayyappan temple corridors were opened on 13th April.  For the Poojas to be performed for 5 days, devotees will not be permitted as per the Dewaswom Board announcement.

As preventive measures against the raging coronavirus pandemic, ‘Panguni Uthira Aarattu’ festival was not performed in the Lord Ayyappan temple.

The temple corridors were scheduled to open on 10th April for the ‘Chithirai Vishu Pooja’. This was also canceled. Temple Dewaswom decided to open the corridors only for the poojas to be performed in the Tamil/Hindu calendar month of Chithirai.

Accordingly, the temple corridors were opened at 5.00 PM on 13th April. Special poojas such as ‘Padi Poojas’ will not be performed. Melsanthi Sudhir Namboodri performed Brahmarakshas Pooja yesterday. Subsequently, the temple corridors will be closed at 10.00 PM on 18th April. Devotees will not be permitted during this period.
