Established in 1862, Madras High Court is one of the oldest high courts in India.
On Sunday, 19th April 2020, Madras High Court Registrar General, Mr. C. Kumarappan issued a notification following the advice of Mr. A.P. Sahi, chief justice.
As per the notification, it is clear that until further orders, hereafter all the cases would be heard through video conferencing process and there would not by any sitting of the judges and hearing of the cases at HC halls in the lock down period. It was mentioned in the notification that the curt halls would not be available for any judicial functions in the lock down time for the sake of keeping the court halls sanitised and hygienically fit for any further usage.
It must be taken into note that Corona virus infection has affected people belonging to more than 209 countries including India. Truth is in India, the state of TN is now ranked third with highest number of Corona virus cases. For the purpose of preventing the spread of Covid-19, PM of India announced total lock down from 25th March to 14th April and then extended it till 3rd May is well known.
As many as 1372 persons belonging to TN have been diagnosed Corona virus positive and they have been taking treatments. The important information is one employee belonging to Chennai HC has been confirmed as Corona positive now. This was as per the state health minister, Mr. C. Vijayabhaskar. Persons like advocates, police personnel etc involved in the interrogation were allowed inside the court hall.
