The State Government of Tamil Nadu has ordered 100% lockdown imposition from today (26th April) until 9.00 PM on 29th April as a preventive measure against the spreading of the raging coronavirus pandemic.
DGP Tripathi has ordered that additional Police Force be deployed for more protection monitoring the lockdown imposition. He has ordered that more vehicle checks be carried out. Thus, the Police department has closed and sealed all major roads!
In case persons belonging to the Departments as listed by the State Government venture out, it is MANDATORY TO WEAR IDENTITY BADGE. Otherwise, the case will be booked on them.
As regards the Chennai Metro City, the main roads of the city, including Anna Salai, Vadapalani 100’ Road, Poonamallee High Road, Maduravoyal High Road, Thiruvotriyur High Road, Rajaji Road, OMR (Old Mahabalipuram Road), Velacherry, and Nungambakkam High Road have been closed with barriers as ordered by the Commissioner A. K. Viswanathan.
Further, all the link roads to the main roads have also been closed since yesterday night. During the 100% lockdown situation, all 14,000 streets under the Greater Chennai Corporation will be closed.
In case, persons violate these stringent conditions and venture out in their bikes or cars, their vehicles will be seized unconditionally. Moreover, the driving licenses of the relevant persons will be canceled for 6 months. Orders have been issued to the police to book a case against the violating persons under the infection Diseases Act and arrest them immediately.
The District Assistant Commissioners must monitor whether the 100% lockdown imposition is followed strictly.
The inspectors and sub-inspectors, under the supervision of the Assistant Commissioners, must be patrol duty around the roads with extreme vigilance.
All Police MUST wear face masks and gloves. They MUST observe social distancing as well.
