The total (100%) lockdown situation, imposed for 4 days in the districts of Chennai, Madurai, and Coimbatore concludes today (Wednesday, 29th April). In Salem and Tirupur districts, the total lockdown concluded yesterday and shops were opened today (Wednesday, 29th April). In these 2 districts, as the shops opened after a 3-day break, there were large crowds in front of all shops – all vegetables were sold within 2 hours!
So, it is expected that a similar situation of large crowds teeming in front of shops is expected in the 3 districts of Chennai, Madurai, and Coimbatore as the shops will resume opening tomorrow (Thursday, 30th April)! In order to prevent this, the state government of Tamil Nadu has made an advance announcement!
According to this, the vegetable/fruit/grocery shops will remain open from 6.00 Am to 5.00 PM just for 1 day tomorrow, Thursday, 30th April.
