The Central Ministry of Railways has informed that train services would be resumed from Delhi to 15 major cities including Chennai from tomorrow (Tuesday, 12th May).
As per the notification released by the Indian Railways, in the 1st Phase, 15 trains are to be operated from Delhi to 15 cities including Chennai, Bengaluru, Secunderabad, Thiruvananthapuram, and Mumbai.
Further, additional special trains will be operated from New Delhi to Dibrugarh, Agartala, Howrah, Patna, Bilaspur, Ranchi, Bhuvaneshawar, Ahmadabad, Jammu-Tawi, and Goa.
Indian Railways have categorically announced that the reservations for these trains will commence from 4.00 PM today (Monday, 11th May) ONLY AT IRCTC WEBSITE. TICKETS WILL NOT BE ISSUED AT THE TICKET COUNTERS AT THE STATIONS.
Further, only passengers with reserved tickets will be permitted to enter the station and board the train.
The passengers need to prove that they ARE NOT INFECTED with coronavirus and MUST WEAR FACE MASKS.
The trains will stop only at important stations. It has been announced that the fare would be equivalent to the amount charged for the Rajdhani Express trains.
This announcement regarding the resumption of train services in the country has been welcomed with huge delight by the public!
Indian Railways have also decided to introduce the other passenger services in a gradual manner.
The train services were stopped mainly as the preventive measure against the spreading of the raging coronavirus pandemic from 25th March. It is now set to resume operations after a gap of 48 days!
