The 3rd Phase of the lockdown conditions imposed throughout the country, as a preventive measure to control the spread of the raging coronavirus pandemic, is set to conclude on 17th May.
However, even after 45 days of the fight against the spread, the spread of the coronavirus has NOT BEEN CONTROLLED. The number of infected persons keeps increasing every passing day!
Meanwhile, certain relaxations were announced in the lockdown conditions. This is also termed as one of the reasons for the uncontrolled spreading of the coronavirus pandemic.
In this scenario, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had the 5th review/conference through video with the State Chief Ministers yesterday (Monday, 11th May).
The Prime Minister had a detailed discussion/review regarding the issues of further strengthening the preventive activities already in progress, the initiatives to be taken after the lockdown conclusion, and to give the extra impetus to the country’s economy in the present situation.
The government circles inform that the lockdown may be extended for the 4th time after 17th May whereas more relaxations may be given in the areas where the impact has not been severe.
The circles inform that lockdown conditions may be more strictly implemented in the red zones, especially the ban on public transport.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked the Chief Ministers to send the recommendations regarding revisions before 15th May.
Several states have appealed for the extension of the lockdown conditions.
However, the government circles inform that the alert zones have been kept under good control. They have demanded, the red zones can be restricted into specific areas within the districts instead of the entire district.
With the 6th week of lockdown in progress, several states have been hugely affected economically and they support the move to resume economic activities outside the ‘contained zones’.
