From 25th of March 2020, India has been under the lock down to prevent the spread of Corona virus and the offices were shut down. Now, after nearly 50 long days, the restrictions have been eased and the IT offices in Chennai have started to work again.

Important information is IT parks in Chennai have established Corona virus protocols like sanitization, thermal scanners and social distancing norms etc. Truth is inspite of these very few employees have been reporting for work now.

About a fortnight back, the state government has given permission to the IT sector to start operating with 10 percent of employees in IT parks and SEZ inside the GCC limits. In the neighboring districts, the state government had permitted IT sector to start operating with 30 to 50 percent of employees. From 11th May only, most IT parks were opened.

The surprising piece of information is for the second day on 12th May hardly anyone walked into the facilities of Ramanujam IT Park at OMR. Other IT parks like DLF, Olympia IT Park etc in Chennai also saw very few employees.

As per Mr. C. Velan, city head Chennai operations, Capitaland India (previously Ascendos), equipment has been installed to control and combat Corona virus infection. Equipment present were thermal scanners, heightened hygiene protocols to lessen the spread of pathogens, hand sanitizer at common places, isolation rooms. He then mentioned about the special training that has been given to all the support staffs. He concluded that his firm would be adding contact free features to the equipment wherever possible.
