From 24th April to 1st May 2020, first expert team from the Centre came to the Chennai city. They visited many places in Chennai city to check abut social distancing plus other lock down norms that were followed in Chennai to avoid spreading of Corona virus infection. It must be noted that the team from NDRF or National Disaster Response Force also visited hospitals in the Chennai city and the facilities that were made to quarantine patients.
For the last few days, more number of Corona virus positive cases has been reported in Chennai. It is now said that a second central expert team would be coming to Chennai city on Wednesday, 13th May 2020 to help the health department in the fight against the Corona virus.
This central expert team would be headed by Mr. Sunil Sharma, joint secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare/MoHFW New Delhi. Other persons like Dr. P. Ravindran, director, EMR, Mr. Rajendra Ratnoo, joint secretary, JPIIT, New Delhi and Dr. Suhas Dhandore, deputy director, NCDC.
Providing assistance to the state health department would be the main criteria for this team from New Delhi and the team would conduct meeting with chief secretary, Mr. Shanmugham. This team would be staying in Chennai for about a week of time and it would be monitoring the situation to reduce the number of Corona virus positive cases.
At present as many as 10 states in India such as Gujarat, TN, UP, Delhi, Rajasthan, WB, MP, Punjab, AP and Telangana have major Covid-19 caseloads or high number of positive cases.
