More than 3.3 lakh people tested in TN and those coming from Maharashtra tests Corona virus positive in TN

In some districts of TN, people who returned from the state of Maharashtra have tested positive for Covid-19 infection and on Monday TN had as many as 536 fresh positive cases.
There has been some debate about the testing strategy as per the new guidelines released by ICMR. It is now brought out that Tamil Nadu would be finalizing its own guideline on Tuesday.
On Sunday, as many as 12,445 persons were tested and on Monday as many as 10,887 persons were tested in TN. It has been mentioned by Mr. C. Vijayabaskar state health minister that TN has not reduced the testing. It is known that the state of TN has been criticized by epidemiologists plus others like doctors etc due to the less number of tests conducted. The state health minister highlighted that TN has done the largest number of tests for Corona virus.
It must be noted that the number of persons who get tested depends on the persons who come to Chennai by road, train or flights etc in addition to the home contacts of the Corona virus positive person. More than 3.3 lakh persons have been tested in TN till now and it includes 85000 persons in Chennai.
It was brought out by the health secretary Mrs Beela Rajesh that on Tuesday the state health department would be releasing the comprehensive testing policy. Revised testing guidelines for all states has been published by ICMR on Monday and as per the revised guidelines returnees and migrants with influenza type illness must be tested inside 7 days of illness.
