The state of Tamil Nadu had recorded 66,310 persons arriving using various modes of transport. This has been since the 6th of May 2020. The records have mentioned that as many as 19,051 people came to Chennai and majority arrived from Karnataka.
Dindigul recorded the second highest group of 14,793 persons and Madurai recorded 3626 persons returning back. Testing has been carried out on these persons irrespective of the modes of transport they have used.
Persons who tested positive for Covid-19 have been taken to the hospitals for treatment and those who have tested negative have been kept under institutional quarantine for 7 days. It is said that after 7 days the persons were sent to their homes for quarantine if they didn’t show any symptom.
According to a senior officer belonging to the government, every arrival has been recorded by the government since e-pass is in place for the movement on the roads. Many passengers have arrived by special trains and buses from other states and the number has been on the rise.
Information collected is 10 special fights have been operated to Chennai from countries like Dubai, Kuwait, Kuala Lumpur, Muscat, London, Dhaka, Chicago and Manila etc. The stranded Tamils have been brought to Chennai by 2 vessels.
