The Honorable Tamil Nadu State Minister for Municipal Administration, Minister for Rural Development, and Implementation of a special program, Mr S. P. Velumani has announced:
“As per the advice from our Honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu along with our Corporation, around 2500 field workers have been selected to work in the prevention of COVID-19 spread in slum areas in the Greater Chennai Corporation Limits.”
- The field workers will start work from Saturday, 23rd May.
- Each fieldworker will be tracking 300 homes and they would advise the social distancing that should be maintained among the general public when they step out to buy their essentials.
- The field workers will help the elder people with weak immunity, the pregnant women and the ones with diabetes with their medical needs.
- They would keep tracking the houses affected by corona and will provide the necessary masks, Kabasura Kudineer, and nutrition tablet.
- They would spread the necessary awareness about wearing masks, washing hands with soap and water and social distancing.
- They would take the ones who show the symptoms COVID-19 to the nearest health Cenre to get the necessary tests and care.
- The volunteers, who take part in the fieldwork, are advised to follow the necessary preventive measures during the work.
Honourable Minister S. P. Velumani announced that the volunteers would be given incentives for their commendable service.
