The Medical Council has informed that coronavirus impact has peaked in the state of Tamil Nadu! They observed it will come down subsequently.

Further, it has recommended strong regulations to be monitored in the districts where the coronavirus intensity/impact has been more severe.

The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu had a consultation/review meeting with the Medical Council. The Medical Council had a session with the press after this meeting and shared:

“We had a review meeting regarding the present situation, the number of people affected and the actions taken, and the avenues to prevent further spread of the raging coronavirus pandemic. We have already announced that any infection has to come down after touching a peak. Presently, coronavirus impact has touched a peak in Tamil Nadu. It will, henceforth, come down!

As the intensity/impact of the coronavirus spread is severely high in the Chennai Metro City, 17,000 beds are kept in ready condition.

12,000 doctors, nurses, and Laboratory Technicians have been appointed.

Further, 2,000 more are appointed.

In Chennai Metro City, the impact of the coronavirus has been maximum in zones 4, 5, and 6.

The State Government has implemented our recommendations. As more testing is being done, more infections are observed. We have recommended stringent regulations to be implemented and strictly monitored in the zones where the impact has been quite severe.

By increasing the quantum of testing, and thereby identifying the affected, there is a scope to prevent deaths.

We have recommended that senior citizens above 60 years of age must be tested.

The increase in the spreading of infection was an expected development. When the impact of infection is more, the number of deaths will also increase. The spreading will not stop just fort eh state government initiatives. To control this, IT IS FOR THE PUBLIC TO FOLLOW THE STRINGENT SYSTEM OF WEARING FACE MASKS, AVOIDING GOING TO CROWDED PLACES, AND KEEPING SOCIAL DISTANCING!

Though the impact comes down now, there are prospects that it may return again in a period of 4 months just as it has happened in China now!”
