With the raging impact/intensity of the coronavirus pandemic spread in the state of Tamil Nadu, especially in the Chennai Metro City, the State Government of Tamil Nadu has been undertaking various preventive measures against the same.
As a part of this, a corona treatment centre has been set up in the Velachery Guru Nanak College. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister E. Palniswamy inaugurated this centre today (Saturday, 20th June) and had a round of inspection in the centre.
The Chief Minister had a session with the press after the above inauguration and shared:
“Lockdown has been declared with the sole purpose of checking the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. As such, the public, as well as the political parties, MUST extend their wholehearted cooperation.
Tamil Nadu State has the maximum number of testing labs.in India for coronavirus in order to detect persons infected with coronavirus, house-to-house check is being conducted.
There are 45 government and 38 private coronavirus testing laboratories in Tamil Nadu for a total of 83 testing laboratories.
17,500 beds are kept in ready condition for coronavirus infection treatment in Chennai Metro City. There are 5000 beds in hospitals and further 12,500 beds in schools and colleges in ready condition.
The public must strictly adhere to wearing face masks when leaving their residences. The present situation is that no cure is found yet for this coronavirus. Still, 54% of the infected people have recovered with the treatments given by the doctors.
At present, there are no plans to extend the lockdown in Chennai. Several review/consultation/analytical sessions have been conducted with the medical experts and administration officials.
Anbazhagan, the State Minister for Higher Education, has confirmed that he is NOT infected with the coronavirus.”
