Information about rains in Chennai in the next 24 hours

Regional Meteorological Centre or RMC, Chennai department officials on Sunday, 21st June 2020, have conveyed that southwest monsoon and heat wave would bring light rains in some places in the Chennai city. For the next 48 hours, some districts belonging to TN would get heavy rains.

As per Mr. N. Puviarasan, director of RMC, Chennai, there would be heavy rains at some isolated places over ghat areas of Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Theni and Dindigul districts for the next 48 hours. He hinted that the condition of the sky in Chennai is likely to be cloudy and light rains would occur in some places in the next 24 hours.

Maximum temperature and minimum temperature recorded on Sunday were 37 degrees Celsius and 29 degrees Celsius. These temperatures would remain the same in the next 48 hours.

There has been light rainfall in some places of Chennai in the evenings for the last few days and despite this the maximum temperature was around 40 degrees. For the last 2 days, the maximum temperatures recorded were 37 degrees Celsius and 38 degrees Celsius and this was according to the weathermen. This was mainly due to the factors like absence of heavy rains, hot air from the west and sunlight along the coast.
