In certain areas belonging to the southern suburbs of Chennai, officials are not distributing Rs.1000 door-to-door for the ration cardholders. This has resulted in a huge gathering of people with no social distancing.
An amount of Rs.1000 was given to people in many places in Chengalpattu on Monday. Right after an announcement was made by the officials regarding the distribution of Rs.1000 for ration cardholders at a particular place, lots of people came together at the spot. There was no social distancing. It was earlier said that there would be a door-to-door supply of the amount but it did not happen.
Many people questioned this and they were told by the staff that there was not enough manpower. Hence the door-to-door distribution of Rs.1000 was not possible. In places like Pammal, Pallavaram, Chromepet, and Anakaputhur in Chennai, the situation was the same with the gathering of people without maintaining social distancing.
