If you are of the view that the presence of more number of Coronavirus positive cases in a particular zone means a lesser recovery rate in that zone, then this would surprise you.
It is well known that Royapuram and Tondiarpet zones have been worst affected by Covid-19 infection. Truth is the recovery rates in these 2 zones of north Chennai are much higher than the other zones belonging to GCC. This was according to data released by GCC.
The data has shown that Royapuram zone has a recovery rate of 70% and Tondiarpet zone has a recovery rate of 67%. Total number of confirmed Coronavirus positive cases in Royapuram zone and Tondiarpet zone are 7659 and 6393 respectively. As many as5376 persons belonging to Royapuram zone have recovered and as many as 4291 persons belonging to Tondiarpet zone have recovered.
More than 60% recovery rates have been registered in the zones like Teynampet, Thiru- Vi- Ka Nagar and Kodambakkam zones. As on Monday morning, 29th June, Chennai city had a recovery rate of 59 % and death rate of 1.5%. It must be noted that 31,858 persons in Chennai have recovered from this infection. There are as many as 809 persons who have died due to Coronavirus infection.
Two important zones like Alandur and Tiruvottriyur have got the lowest recovery rate of 47% and 48% respectively. These zones have active caseloads of just 705 persons and 1053 persons respectively.
It was revealed by the data from GCC that Tondiarpet zone had 112 deaths and others like Royapuram had 130 deaths, Teynampet zone had 124 deaths.
Some persons have died after reaching their homes after getting discharged from hospitals or COVID care centres etc. The reason for this was due to the TN government that instructed GCC to send asymptomatic patients to their homes from CVID care centres after 14 days without taking exit tests.
