The present Chennai Metro City Police Commissioner A. K. Viswanathan has been transferred.
A.K. Viswanathan assumed the post of the Chennai Metro City Police Commissioner during May 2017. During this period, the security monitoring systems were strengthened with the setting up of CCTV surveillance cameras throughout the Chennai Metro City. With this, the number of crimes got reduced and more culprits were caught.
Just after completing 3 years after assuming office as the Chennai Metro City Police Commissioner, A. K. Viswanathan has been transferred as the Assistant Director-General of Police (ADGP) of the Department of execution/implementation. Maheshkumar, who was earlier in this post, has now been transferred as the new Police Commissioner of the Chennai Metro City.
