The Ministry of School Education in Tamil Nadu had revised the education syllabus for higher education. However, keeping in view of the student’s and teacher’s request, this revised pattern has been withdrawn. The 2020-21 batch will study based on the four subjects pattern as announced by the TN government.
On a specific note about the cancellation of the revised pattern, the government stated that firstly, based on the report of the State Directorate of Public instruction (DPI), understanding the pressure and fear for the higher education students, the four major subjects pattern was given an option with 3 major subjects that has a revised syllabus. The students can either select 3 subjects or 4 subject patterns. This option was brought in action for the students in the academic year of 2020-21.
Secondly, on the review of the issued order, the director to the school education reported to the government saying that the parents, teachers and a few people through the letters requested for the old system as the new plan may shrink the employment opportunity of the students Hence, he asked the government to review the issued order with 3 major subjects and replace it with 4 as per the people’ request.
On hearing the request of the director as well as the students and teachers and making sure that the employment opportunities for the students are wide, the government decided to withdraw the 3 major subjects pattern and prevail the 4 major subjects pattern for the welfare of the students for the academic year 2020-21.
