There has been a sharp drop in the Covis-19 cases in the city of Chennai with 1203 cases and the    neighbours like Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur and Chengapet together had 412 cases. There are a total of 45,839 active cases and Chennai has more than 22000 active cases. As many as6258 active cases are present in the 3 neighbouring districts of Chennai.

Dr. Prabhdeep Kaur, director of NIE expressed her views and said the cases in Chennai were decreasing and this was due to the intense lockdown in Chennai. She added that it was too early to say Chennai had flattened the curve. She concluded that Chennai has led the way by increasing fever surveillance and samples testing.

In the southern districts of TN, a high number of Covid-19 positive cases was reported. It is worthy to note that the epidemic curve in some southern districts shows an abnormal and sudden peak.

The spreading of Covid-19 infection could be stopped in these districts by more testing of the samples plus isolation of people.
