ICMR: trial run for testing the vaccine on human patients commences today!

Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has informed that the phase of testing the vaccines developed in India on human patients for a cure against the coronavirus had commenced. ICMR further informed that around 1000 self-volunteers have come forward for the tests to b conducted on them.

Director of ICMR, Balram Bhargava, shared regarding the above:

“In order to prevent the spread of the raging coronavirus pandemic, Bharath Biotech, jointly with ICMR, has developed a vaccine. The stage is now set for this vaccine along with another vaccine developed by Zylas Cadila Healthcare to be tested on the 1st and 2nd Phase by vaccinating the volunteers and permission has been granted for the same.

Earlier, these VACCINES EWER SUCCESSFULLY TESTED ON RATS, RABBITS, ETC. The associated reports of these tests had been sent to the DCGI (Drug Controller General of India).

DCGI reviewed and analyzed the report, proceeded with permission to est the vaccines on human patients.

Subsequently, testing has been in progress on around 1000 self-volunteers who came forward for the test to be conducted on them in various places.

With the number of human lives lost due to the raging coronavirus pandemic across the world exceeding 5 lakhs, it is really crucial and the moral responsibility of India that all possible joint efforts must be expedited to create the vaccine and test successfully.”
