The State Government of Tamil Nadu is planning to utilize a special quota of admission under the internal quota for the students who studied under the ‘Right To Education’ Act and passed the NEET (National Entrance-cum-Eligibility Test a pass in which is mandatory for admission to the graduate medical courses),
To put the same n other words, the students who studies up to 8th Standard under the Right To Education Act and then joining the government schools and then write and pass NEET will get admission to graduate medical courses under special internal quota.
This decision was taken during the Tamil Nadu State Government Cabinet review Meeting presided by the Chief Minister, E. Palaniswamy.
It may be noted in this regard that the State Government of Tami Nadu has already granted a 7.5% quota for the government school students who pass NEET. This decision was taken during the State Government cabinet review meeting conducted last June.
In this situation, a decision has been taken to allot internal quota for admission to graduate medical courses for the students who studied up to 8th Standard under the Right To Education Act and then continued their studies in Government Schools and passed NEET. This proposal was approved during the recent Tamil Nadu State Government cabinet meeting conducted last Tuesday 914th July). Following this approval, an Emergency Act on this will be passed soon and this 7.5% quota will be available even in this current academic year to facilitate admission of the students under this 7.5% internal quota.
Following this grant of 7.5% quota, it is expected that the number of students .from government schools joining graduate medical curses will increase above 150.
There was a recent notification by the panel of judges that the number of students from government schools writing and passing NEET and then joining medical graduation courses has been reducing drastically, Considering this report, the State3 Government of Tamil Nadu has decided to implement an internal quota system for the government school students to join medical graduate courses.
The State Government of Tamil Nadu formed a special council on 21st March under the retired Judge Kalaiyarasan to review and analyze and recommend the percentage quota to be allotted to this category of students. Subsequently, this council, headed by the former judge Kaaiyarasan recommended that a 10% quota can be given on this accord.
Following this, the State Government of Tami Nadu reviewed the above recommendation of the council headed by the retired judge Kalaiyarasan and decided that 1 7.5% internal quota may be allotted for this category of students for admission to the medical graduate courses and sent this report to the Governor.
In the Tamil Nadu State Government cabinet-level meeting conducted on Tuesday, 14th July, permission has also been granted for the expansion proposal of some industries and also the permission to start some new industries. Accordingly, permission has been granted in the above meeting for 14 industrial organizations that have been allowed to undertake an investment of over Rs. 5000 Crores on expansions.
