Neighbours of Chennai has more Coronavirus infection cases but Chennai climbs out of viral spiral

In the last 15 days, the number of Coronavirus positive cases have been decreasing in the city of Chennai is well known. There has been an increase in the number of positive cases in the neighbouring districts of Chennai like Tiruvallur and Chengalpet now.

For the past few weeks, the number of positive Covid-19 cases has been hovering between 250 and 300 per day in Tiruvallur. The total number of confirmed cases here is now 8107.

In the active cases, Tiruvallur district is now third after Chennai and Madurai and as many as 3112 persons are under treatment in Tiruvallur district. This was as per the data from the health department. After 8th July 2020, as many as 2062 positive cases were reported from Tiruvallur district.

It was later brought to light by an official of GCC that increased sample testing has resulted in more number of positive cases in Tiruvallur district. He highlighted that around 4000 samples were tested in a day and this has led to identification of more cases. Arresting the infection from spreading has been possible. There were more positive cases in places like Avadi, Ponneri, Thiruverkadu, Poonamallee and other urban local bodies near Chennai.

To identify positive cases, mobile sample collection facility vehicles have been introduced plus every day 40 to 50 fever clinics have been conducted.

In the last 10 days, more than 2000 Covid-19 positive cases were reported from Chengalpet district. So far, as many as8908 positive cases have been reported in the district of Chengalpet.
