The city of Chennai is continuing to be the hotspot for Coronavirus positive cases and as many as 1157 fresh cases were reported on Thursday.
In Tamil Nadu, the total number of Coronavirus infected persons stood at 156369 with as many as 4534 new positive cases reported on Thursday.
In the last 24 hours in TN, the number of deaths due to this infection was 69 and this took the total deaths in TN to 2236.In TN, atleast 5106 persons got discharged after getting treated for Coronavirus infection. The total number of persons who got discharged in TN stood at 107,416.
There were as many as526 positive cases on Thursday in the district of Tiruvallur and the districts of Chengalpet and Kancheepuram reported 179 and 67 cases respectively On Thursday, Tiruvannamalai district reported 212 cases whereas Villupuram district had 105 cases. There were 1256 Corona positive cases and 14 deaths reported from the southern region yesterday.
As many as 267 positive cases were reported in Madurai district with5 deaths. Districts like Dindigul, Kanniyakumari, Ramanathapuram and Sivagangai reported 126 cases, 146 cases, 90 cases and 83 cases respectively.
There has been a decrease in the number of fresh Covid-19 positive cases in the western districts of TN yesterday. Just before Thursday, the fresh cases increased in these western districts from Monday to Wednesday.
Important piece of information is the combined count of fresh Covid-19 cases from all the 8 districts belonging to the west was just 279. Point is this was much lesser than the single day tally of Kancheepuram and Madurai.
Seventy fresh Covid-19 cases were reported from the Salem district yesterday and it was the highest. Next was Coimbatore with 52 fresh cases. There are 5784 Covid-19 cases in the western districts of TN and out of those 3009are active. The number of active cases in Salem and Coimbatore seemed to be stable.
