In the last 24 hours, the neighboring districts of Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram and Chengalpattu have reported an alarming rise of 454 cases, 329 cases, and 354 fresh Coronavirus positive cases respectively. It must be taken into account that the combined tally of these 3 above-mentioned districts of TN has crossed 1,100 cases in a day.
On Monday, the state of TN recorded as many as 4,985 positive cases and as many as 4,930 were local. The returnees from other states or other countries have contributed to the remaining cases. In total, TN had 1,75,678 COVID-19 positive cases.
The COVID-19 situation in Chennai is under the control with no significant increase in the cases. This was brought out by the officers belonging to the state health department.
Surge in the new cases was witnessed in several districts in TN. On Monday, Thoothukudi reported atleast 200 fresh cases, and more than 100 cases were reported from districts like Coimbatore, Tenkasi, Tirunelveli, Theni, Tiruvannamalai, Madurai, Vellore, Virudhunagar, etc. The number of persons who have died due to Coronavirus infection in TN stands at 2,551 now.
In Chennai alone, as many as 1,456 persons have lost their lives due to this infection including 22 on Monday. As many as 1,21,776 persons have recovered from this infection in TN till now. There are as many as 51,348 active COVID-19 cases in TN. Health Secretary Mr. Radhakrishnan would be under home quarantine for 2 weeks of time because his son and his wife have been infected with Coronavirus.
