People with co-morbid conditions like BP, diabetes are having different type of problem in Chennai.
In the Chennai city, many small clinics and hospitals are yet to resume their operations. This has resulted in few issues to the public now. The Chennai residents now flock the government hospitals even for their regular consultations plus checkups for their co-morbid conditions. The crowds have increased at the public health centres or PHC and in the government hospitals in Chennai.
A resident from Tiruvottriyur expressed his views. He spoke about how to get an insulin injection he had to go to Stanley Hospital as the nearby clinic was not open. He added that there was a massive crowd at the Stanley Hospital.
It was then brought out by a resident belonging to Tondiarpet that she went to Tondiarpet based communicable diseases hospital for getting insulin injection and the hospital was crowded with lots of patients. She revealed that all small hospitals and a nearby clinic were closed and this has created issues for her.
A doctor from the Old Washermenpet area spoke his heart out. He highlighted that in the month of April he was threatened by the corporation officials to close down his clinic. He has not opened his clinic till now due to fear. He hinted that social distancing was maintained in his clinic.
Information is sticker has been pasted outside the clinic mentioning that those with Covid-19 symptoms would not be treated. The truth is Chennai Corporation threatened him to book him under Clinical Establishments Act.
Sealing the hospitals for no valid reason has become common now and many complaints have been received from doctors regarding this. This was as per Dr Raja, TN state president of IMA. He later confirmed that IMA was in full support of all the small clinics and hospitals functioning with necessary precautions.
