From March, all schools in the state of TN have been closed to control the spread of Coronavirus infection. The students and teachers have been affected more by this. It must not be forgotten that TN received an official communication from MHRD seeking to know its plans in the reopening of the schools in TN.

The School Education Department of TN has made it clear that at present no decision has been taken yet regarding starting new academic activities in the schools.

It has been mentioned by a senior official belonging to Directorate of School Education that TN had sent its representation to the centre that a concrete conclusion regarding when the schools would be reopened would be reached only after getting feedback from the parents and from the teachers.

Many class 12 students could not appear for the board examinations in TN on 24th March 2020 due to the shutdown. The authorities were focussing on the conducting board examinations for these students. He added that the expert committee that was constituted to look into the academic loss has already prepared its report.

It is clear that based on the report and taking into account various feedback the government would submit its proposal about reopening of the schools to the Centre.

The Coronavirus pandemic situation is getting worse, therefore the safety of the students and parents opinion were most important. He assured that the TN government would not take any decision hastily. To make up for the lost time, the authorities have been working out on all the pros and cons.
