Prospects for rains in 8 districts in Tamil Nadu

The Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre has informed that there are prospects for mild to medium rains in 1 or 2 places in the next 24 hours in the districts of Thiruvallur, Vellore, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Nilgiri, Coimbatore, Theni, and Kanyakumari due to the cyclonic formats prevailing in the upper layers of the atmosphere over the coastal area above North Tamil Nadu and South Andhra regions.

The Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre has further informed that there are prospects for heavy rains in 1 or 2 places in Nilgiri District and prospects of mild rain in the next 24 hours in a few places in the Chennai Metro City and its suburbs.

Details of districts which recorded maximum rainfall (in the last 24 hours) in cm:

Devala - 12, Yercaud - 10, Vaalpaarai - 9, Chinnakkallar - 8, Cinchona and Pandhalur - 7, Harrison Estate and Solayaru - 5.

Warning for fishermen:

10th August: There are prospects for high-speed winds blowing in the coastal areas of Kerala-Karnataka and Lakhdiv at 40 kmph to 50 kmph. High-speed winds at 50 kmph to 60 kmph may blow in the south-west and the central-west Arabian Sea.

11th August: High-speed winds at 40 kmph to 50 kmph may blow in the coastal areas of Kerala, Karnataka, and Goa. High-speed winds may blow at 50 kmph to 60 kmph in the South-west and Central-west Arabian Sea regions.

12th August: High-speed wind may blow at 50 kmph to 60 kmph in the south-west and central-west Arabian Sea regions.

So, fishermen are warned not to venture into the sea for fishing in the above-mentioned areas.
