Chennai Metro City: Gold price drops by Rs. 232 per sovereign!

The price of gold per sovereign has come down by Rs. 232 per sovereign in Chennai metro City today (Monday, 17th August) and is now sold at Rs. 40,000 per sovereign.

Due to various reasons such as the raging coronavirus pandemic spread, the international economic environment, the fall in the Employment Index Number in the USA, the investment in gold shot up. Hence, the price of gold was shooting up gradually.

On 22nd July, the price of gold per sovereign was Rs. 38,000.  After this, the price of gold tended to shoot up each passing day and on 5th August, the price of gold per sovereign shot up beyond Rs. 42,000 and on 7th August, it shot up past Rs. 43,000 per sovereign and touched unprecedented peaks! However, after this, the price of gold came down during the next 5 days.

In this situation, the price of gold has come down today - Monday, 17th August. In Chennai Metro City, the price of jewelry gold has gone down by Rs. 232 per sovereign and is being sold at Rs. 40,555 per sovereign. The price of gold per gram was down by Rs. 29 and was sold at Rs. 5071 per ram.

At the same time, the price of silver has also come down. The price of silver has come down by Rs. 1/- per gram and sold at Rs. 74.10 per gram and the price of the silver slab has reduced by Rs. 1000 per kg and was sold at Rs. 74,100 per kg.
