Just when it was thought that the Coronavirus infection pandemic was under control and the number of fresh cases has decreased in Chennai, here comes a surprising piece of news.

For the past few days, 5 zones such as Adyar, Valasaravakkam, Madhavaram, Ambattur and Teynampet zones belonging to GCC have been once again witnessing an increase in the number of Coronavirus cases. This has been mentioned by data from the Chennai Corporation and it has shocked many now.

The previous 6 consecutive days before 14th August saw less than 1000 fresh Corona cases in Chennai but since then the cases have been increasing once again in Chennai.

On 8th august 2020, the positivity rate in Chennai touched a low of 7% and now this positivity rate has gone above 10%. Many people have been returning to Chennai from the districts and this has led to the spike in the Coronavirus cases now.

It is now said that the opening of Tasmac shops would further increase the number of cases. On 10th August, Adyar zone had just 839 Corona active cases and on Tuesday it went to 1157. In the same manner, in the Valasaravakkam zone the number of active cases rose from 781 to 1048 in the same period of time.

From 432 active cases, the number has now gone to 550 now in the Madhavaram zone in north Chennai.  In the last few days, zones like Anna Nagar and Ambattur witnessed steep rises in the Coronavirus cases is a known fact.

It has been mentioned by a senior official belonging to GCC that those who are returning from districts or from other states must remain compulsory for 14 days in home quarantine. Co-operation of the people is very important and then only Covid-19 infection could be kept under control in Chennai.
