On Wednesday, 26th August 2020, Uber launched 24^7 Auto rental service. It must be noted that there would be a plastic partition between the driver and the passenger. The main objective of this partition was to control the spread of Covid-19 issues.

The advantage in this is passengers would be able to book an auto and driver for several hours and multiple stops would be possible.

In addition to Chennai city, the services would also be available in cities like Hyderabad, Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi NCR and Pune. It is important to note that the price starts at Rs 159 for 1 hour/ 10km package. The auto could be booked for 8 hours maximum.

Strict safety guidelines as well as hygiene standards would be there in all the autos and this was as per the ride sharing company.

The needs of the passengers would be different in this Coronavirus pandemic situation. To help get all their errands done at one go, booking the ride for 1 hour would be good.

Point is autos are the most popular modes of transport and ultimate convenience and flexibility would be provided at affordable prices. This was according to Mr. Nitish Bhushan, head, marketplace and categories, Uber India and south India. He assured that all rides would be conforming to the health guidelines and there would be highest possible safety standards.

For tensionless ride for the passengers, Uber has launched a comprehensive set of safety measures such as compulsory masks for drivers and passengers plus others like pre-trip mask verification selfies for the drivers, compulsory driver education and updated cancellation policy where drivers and passengers could cancel their trips if they don’t feel safe.

For the purpose of providing additional physical barriers and to ensure social distancing between the drivers and passengers, Uber would be installing safety screens in one lakh autos in India.
