Students from Tamil Nadu have fared better than those from the Chennai region in the Std. X CBSE Board Exams, the results of which were announced on Sunday. Where the Chennai region had a pass percentage of 99.87, Tamil Nadu’s number was 99.9 %. The Chennai region consists of Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Daman and Diu, Lakshadweep and Pondicherry.
Says D.T. Sudarshan Rao, Chennai Region Officer of the CBSE, ‘A total of 1,74,965 students appeared for the exam from the Chennai region of which 1,74,752 cleared the exam with a pass percentage of 99.87 with 213 students failing or eligible for improvement of performance. As many as 1,33,551 had taken the board based exam whereas 41,414 wrote the school-based exam in the Chennai region and 24,399 took it from Tamil Nadu of which 24,383 qualified”, CBSE… Candidates who wish to apply for verification of marks could do it within 21 days and those who want to take up improvement of performance exam could apply through school by June 21 and the examination would take place on July 16.’
