Southern Railway has announced that 6 more special trains will be operated from the Chennai Metro City – Central and Egmore Railway Stations from 7th September.
The State Government of Tamil Nadu had earlier demanded to Southern Railway that additional special trains be operated in Tamil Nadu. Considering this demand, Southern Railway will operate 6 special trains from the Chennai Metro City – 4 from the Central Station and 2 from the Egmore Station.
The special additional trains from the Chennai Central Railway Station will be to Madurai, Coimbatore, Kanyakumari, Thoothukkudi and Mettupalayam.
The special additional trains from the Egmore Station will be to Madurai and Sengottai.
Subsequently, Chennai-Madurai (Pandian Express), Coimbatore (Cheran Express), Kanyakumari (Express), Muthunagar (Express), and Nilgiri Express trains will be operating.
It may be noted that already 7 special trains are being operated from Chennai. Now, 6 more special trains are being added.
