Resumption of the Chennai Metro Rail - to commence from New Washermanpet to Airport !

The Chennai Metro Rail Service is all set to resume from 7th September.
The first train of resumption of services will be from New Washermanpet to the Chennai Airport.In a similar vein, the Metro Rail services are operated from Chennai Central to St. Thomas Mount from 9th September.As such, the passengers interested in travel from Chennai Central direct to the Airport will have to encounter some hardships!
It has also been announced that the above Metro Rail Services will function from 8.00 AM to 8.00 PM only.The Metro Rail officials have informed that the system of paying money and getting the token will not be functional at present but instead, a smart card system will function.
Further, the duration of the trains stopping at the stations has been increased for the usual 20 seconds to 50 seconds in order to manage a large crowd of passengers!
