Sensational order from the TN Government: Schools may reopen in 1st October

The State Government of Tamil Nadu has released an announcement permitting the reopening of schools from 1st October in Tami Nadu.

Due to the prevailing coronavirus pandemic as a preventive measure, most academic institutions, including all schools and colleges have remained closed since 25th March.

Even the Public Examinations for the 10th Standard candidates were NOT conducted and the government of Tamil Nadu proceeded to announce a student deemed as passed!

In this scenario, the central government has given the state government the authority to decide on the reopening of schools and colleges. In this regard, some states have already decided on the reopening and have announced the dates.

Recently, the press reporters raised a question regarding this to the Tami Nadu State Government Minister for School Education, K. A. Sengottaiyan. At that time (2 days ago), the Minister had categorically answered there was no scope for reopening of schools and colleges!

However, the Tamil Nadu State Government has released a new order today (Thursday, 24th September). In a notification released by the Chief Secretary of the State Government of Tamil Nadu, regarding the reopening of schools, it is mentioned: “The students studying in 10th, 11th, and 12th Standards can attend school on their own preference from 1st October!”

The above permission is given to reopen the school for the above classes for a government schools, government-aided schools and the private schools! To facilitate the students to clarify their doubts regarding the lessons in the various subjects, the students can avail this opportunity to clarify their doubts by attending classes.

At the same time, PLEASE NOTE THAT THE OBNY THE STUDENTS RESIDING OUTSIDE THE CONTAINMENT ZONES WI BE PERMITTED TO ATTEND SCHOOLS AS ABOVE!

Groups of teachers: It has been emphasised that the teachers may be divided into groups and to attend schools on different specified dates. Each group of teachers can attend school for 2 days.

Students’ Attendance:
As per the above State Government Order, the students may decide on their own to attend the cases. It is not compulsory. Still, as it is not yet clear as to what time the students may attend the schools, it is mandatory for the teachers to form groups and attend school as mandatory. In the regard, the academicians observe, with the subsequent passing days, things would emerge clearer and then, there are prospects for making it mandatory for the students to attend school!
