2nd Phase of free admission in private school: applications may be submitted from 12th October for the available seats!

The Tamil Nadu State Government Department of School Education has announced that applications may be sent online for the balance seats available from 12th October for admission in private schools under the Compulsory Right to Education Act in Tamil Nadu.

As per the Compulsory Right to Education Act, 25% seats are reserved for the children in the economically backward society for free admission in private schools other than the Minority Schools.

Under this scheme, the students joining LKG or the 1st Standard NEED NOT PAY ANY FEES UNTIL THEY COMPLETE THE 8TH STANDARD.

Accordingly, there are 115763 seats available for the children of the economically weaker society in more than 10000 private schools in the state of Tamil Nadu. 86326 students have applied for it. Subsequently, the activity of the verification of the certificates given by the applicants has been completed and the admission has commenced. In schools where large numbers of applications have been received, admission seats are offered on a lucky-draw basis.

In this scenario, for the balance seats now available after the 1st Phase of admissions, the Department of School Education of the Tamil Nadu State Government has now announced that applications may be submitted online.

In a Government Order released in this regard by the Chief Secretary of the Tamil Nadu State Government Dheerajkumar, it is mentioned:

“The list detailing the balance number of seats vacant under the Compulsory Right to Education Act, after the 1st Phase of admission must be displayed on the Notice Board on 10th October in all private schools other than the Minority schools.

 Subsequently, the parents of the children can apply online for free admission/education till the 8th Standard from 12th October till 7th November.

Later, the schools must display on their respective Notice Boards the details regarding the valid and invalid applications received on 11th November.

In case certain applications have been rejected, the reasons for this rejection MUST BE INITIATED TO THE PARENTS,

In case more number of applications have been received exceeding the number of available seats, the children for admission will have to select based on a lucky draw on 12th November.

Apart from displaying the list of the students qualified for admission, the schools must also upload the same detail on the official website of the Department of School Education.

Even those who could not admission in the 1st Phase can alsoso submit their application again in this 2nd Phase as explained by the officials of the Department of School Education."
