Now, Chennaites have got additional worries and this is because of the fever cases!!

The fight against Covid-19 infection hasn’t completed yet but in the Chennai city there are many kids having fever after the recent rains. Information is that malaria and dengue have become more now in the kids.

It must be recalled that in the previous years there were many fever cases and now the numbers are not so high. Parents must be careful regarding vector borne diseases and malaria etc in the rainy season and this was as per some paediatric experts.

Until last month, the number of fever cases in ICH Egmore was less than 30 but in the last one week more than 15 cases were reported. The doctors have mentioned that the increase in the numbers of fever cases now was because of the rains and the cases would continue in the coming months due to monsoons.

Dr. Mohan Kumar, consultant paediatrician at ICH Egmore expressed his views about the rise in the fever cases now. He spoke about how the cases increase after the rains and how the paediatric cases become complicated when the kids also suffer from acute diarrhoeal diseases. Truth is that many fever cases turn out to be vector borne diseases.

It is revealed that the cases of dengue are lower than the cases of malaria in this time. In the previous years, the dengue cases were more than the malarial cases are well known. Information collected is the spike in the fever cases have come when the Covid-19 cases have reduced in ICH Egmore. Every day, less than 10 Covid-19 infection cases get reported in this hospital and this was pointed out by some doctors belonging to ICH.

According to Dr. Srinivasan, coordinator, State Neonatal ICU, though Coronavirus infections have decreased the parents must be careful about malaria and other vector borne diseases in the kids.

He threw light on the fever cases that would increase after the rains due to water contamination or due to the seasonal changes. He concluded that the dengue outbreaks are now under control.
