Women teachers to exceed men teachers in schools

The Tamil Nadu School Education Department has passed an order stating that there will be only women teachers in girls’ schools, men teachers in boys’ schools and preference will be given to women in co-ed schools. The order is said to address the issue of sexual harassment.
D. Sabitha, School Education Secretary said, ‘Chief minister J. Jayalalithaa had already brought in stringent punishments against teaching and non-teaching staff who indulge in sexual harassment against women. Our school order is a sequel to it. We will implement the order in 150 government high and higher secondary schools which will get upgraded this year.’
