In the future, Manallur and Soorapoondi villages in Gummidipoondi would be known to many due to this reason!!
Environmental clearance has been obtained by SIPCOT or State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu for developing an industrial park at Manallur and Soorapondi villages in Gummidipoondi belonging to Tiruvallur district.
The clearance to develop an industrial park was given last week by the Ministry of Environment forest and Climate Changes or MoEF & CC. This was mentioned by some sources. It is important to mention here that in the lockdown due to Coronavirus infection the TN has attracted investments worth more than Rs 18000 crores and this has made the Sipcot happy.
The upcoming industrial park would be based n a area of 691.587 acres and it would cost Rs 250 crores. Inside the premises, an electric vehicle or e-vehicle park would come up and a land parcel of 300 acres has been earmarked. This was mentioned by a senior officer. The official then spoke about the enquiries that have been coming in from the players in the e-vehicle space.
As per Mr. Kumaragurubaran, MD, SIPCOT, circulation of environmental clearance or EC details to the public domain has been going on and the enquiries have begun coming in. He added that businessmen and investors would be making their visit to the site. He was hoping that the new park would get ready in another 6 to 9 months of time.
It must be noted that the Gummidipoondi industrial park is already full and the nearby Sri City is also full. The site at Manallur would be cost effective plus ideal for those looking out for new ventures and for expansion.
Information collected is that when compared to the neighbouring states, plots ranging from 2acres to 10acres would be made available at competitive rates here. Two sectors namely pharma and e-vehicles have got enough potential to do well in TN. In the past, industrial estates developed by Sipcot near Chennai were Irungatukottai, Sriperumbudur, Oragadam, vallam Vadagal etc.
It is brought out that an industrial park has been planned with 90percent e-vehicles and industries of auto components. It was mentioned by an officer belonging to Sipcot that the land has been handed over by the collector and a public hearing would be conducted soon. The development of this industrial park would be carried out in a phased manner over the next 5 to 7 years.
