The State Government of Tami Nadu granted permission today (Wednesday, 16th December) to conduct public meetings and events with 50 per cent capacity in the State from 19 December.
While announcing the relaxation, a statement released by Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswamy, said: ”permission is being given to hold political and public meetings, religious gatherings, sports and cultural events with a maximum of 50 per cent capacity in open places, from 19th December.”
The Chief Minister further said that organisers will have to secure prior permission from the district administration and Corporation officials to conduct such meetings.
The TN CM also requested the public to cooperate with the Covid norms of the government and follow them everywhere.
He said people should wear a mask when outside, wash their hands at regular intervals and follow social distancing at public places.
It may be noted that various cultural events are organised in the city in December.
The Tamil Nadu government has already permitted social, political, entertainment and religious gatherings with a maximum of 50 per cent capacity of the hall capacity or with a ceiling of 200 persons in closed spaces from 1 to 31 December.
The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister said the government had been proactively working to protect people from coronavirus and extend relief. The transmission had been brought under control due to the best efforts of the government and support of the people.
